Fancy, a Percheron Mare spent her entire life as an Amish workhorse giving everything she had with no voice and no choice. When her body could no longer keep up with the demands placed on it, she was discarded, tossed aside like she no longer mattered. We were told she was pregnant and could have her foal soon, unfortunately she lossed the baby. She ended up in a crowded kill pen in Arkansas, surrounded by other tired, broken horses facing the same fate. Underweight, scarred, her hooves overgrown and split, she stood quietly with nothing left in her eyes but exhaustion. After years of hard labor, her final destination was meant to be slaughter in Mexico. But her story didn’t end there. Fancy’s life of work and neglect is now being replaced with care, patience, and the chance to finally know what it feels like to simply be a horse... safe, valued, and loved.
We have a long road to recovery, reversing the neglect she once endured. Here at Blessings Farm she will have a forever home and a place of rest.
